Microsoft to pay Opera $12.75 million |
Microsoft is to pay Norway's Opera Software a total of $12.75 million to prevent a possible lawsuit that Opera have threatened. Opera has accused Microsoft of this at least three times – not only on the latest Opera browser.

The argument is over Microsoft's MSN site, which has some built in code to make it look bad in Opera's software, sources told ZDNET. Opera has accused Microsoft of this at least three times – not only on the latest Opera browser.
This settling is the latest in a series of payments Microsoft has been dishing out, apparently to keep it's business simple and to silence possibly damaging legal claims against them.
The situation hints at Microsoft being particularly bitter and spiteful towards the stream of alternative browsers, perhaps worried about an alternative becoming the standard – after all, Microsoft has not been very busy with Internet Explorer. However, IE is still dominating the browser market, with every 9 out of 10 people surfing the interweb using the program.
