AOL patches ICQ to block worm

Bugs and Exploit Related News A fix has been implemented to abolish further attempts at Bizex, a worm that has been travelling throughout ICQ, from spreading. ICQ servers have been updated with the new fix, and nothing needs to be done from ICQ users. To view details, click Read more...

The worm seems to only affect those tapped in to the ICQ network through ICQ clients. Those users who use external applications (Trillian, etc.) to hop on to the ICQ network have not been effected, according to Kapersky Labs. AOL further adds that those using ICQ Pro were susceptible. Other versions of ICQ, including the Lite version, are not prone to the spreading of the worm at this point. AOL is working on the Pro version fix.
